What are Loose Concentrates?

by | Oct 19, 2019

You see it on the board – Sugar, Shatter, Budder, Badder, Diamonds but what are they? Technology has gotten us to the point where we can pull the weed out of the weed and then even put it back into new weed if we want. What?!?! Via various extraction processes it has become possible to remove the juices from the plant creating concentrated cannabis oils. The plant is full of different cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBN etc.) and Terpenes (Pinene, Linalool, Limonene etc.). When these are separated from the plant they become “concentrates”. We are no longer just looking at the plant here. Via extraction we can isolate parts of the plant to give the patient a better chance to get the meds they need at a measured dose instead of just wondering and hoping it works. Concentrates can be heavy in terpenes (terps) or cannabinoids depending on the extraction process. One can use loose concentrates for edibles, vaping, dabbing and more. Cannabis concentrate is what is in vape cartridges as well but that is not “loose”. Concentrates in cartridges are pre-packed. Tinctures, topicals, edibles all use cannabis concentrates to create the product but they are blended in to the mix. Loose concentrates come in their raw form and are free from restrictive devices. The idea is similar to flower; pre packed flower is in a bag and ready to be sold. Loose flower comes from deli style where you are not playing the guessing game as to what buds will be in your bag. When you are in NCW ask your bud tender about Loose Concentrates- May change the way you medicate 😉
