Charlotte Figi lit a fire in the fight for safe access. This young lady showed the world that cannabis is medicine and can create the opportunity for real healing and symptom relief not only for adults but for our youth as well. Children, adults, human beings of all ages all have endocannabinoid systems; that is a fact. And when the receptors are activated magic can happen and lives can change.
Around 8 years ago or so the Stanley brothers out of Colorado cultivated a strain that was high in CBD and low in THC. They named it after her and called it “Charlotte’s Web”. Since then that strain has won awards in the industry and has helped a countless number of patients with varying conditions.
Charlotte suffered from a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. Dravet symptoms include prolonged seizures that are triggered by many elements including weather, visuals, fever and more. Traditional pharmaceutical solutions were not working for Charlotte so her mother started exploring cannabis and well, it helped. Tremendously.
Our hearts go out to Charlotte’s family and we are saddened by the news of her passing. Her memory however will never fade. The medicine she bought to light is going to continue to help many patients thanks to her. She is truly a hero in our community and NCW is proud to continue the fight for safe access and will always remember her as the hero she is. 💚
